Octopus
One of the most colorful symbols of Batumi Boulevard, the Octopus was built in 1975 (authors: architect Giorgi Chakhava, artist Zurab Kapanadze). A rare example of mosaic building-sculptures, is covered with colored stones and enamel. The open building, distinguished by the shapes of stars, dolphins, and seahorses, is a colorful and festive composition. The Octopus is a work of garden and park art and has the status of a cultural heritage monument. It underwent restoration work in 2018-2019 and is still functioning.
